The 5500 sq. ft. main building the large improved rectangle we call the compound, heart of the 466-acre ranch containing about 4 acres, with facilities for multiple residential use, built with commercial contractors only and approved for commercial use. In 1999, the main building was redesigned as a congregate living space. The northern rooms were designated for the caretaker of the business, while the southern rooms were geared towards communal living.The main house's passive/active solar radiant heating system is backed up by propane and wood, and was built by a master craftsman of concrete post-and-beam and pumice-crete , in a southwestern style with many creative innovations.The communal living space includes wind-protected front patio, reception area, office, sleeping and recreation areas, two separate common bathrooms, laundry/utility room, and kitchen. Next to the main building is a 40,000 gallon pond with waterfall and wet land, and an outdoor structure.The north apartment (caretaker) includes living area, office space/bedroom, ADA bathroom and recently remodeled kitchen, outdoor BBQ and patio.The commercial building is ADA accessible with fire alarms and exit lights. The building adheres to Taos County commercial code. The main building meets hotel/motel standards. It has a certificate of occupancy for 19 people. |
